June 30th, 2010 marked the close out date of the 3-year grant cycle for Access to Recovery 2 in New Mexico, and we are eagerly awaiting notification of
ATR3 awards.
In May, 2010 the State of New Mexico submitted data collected from clients over the past 3 years. Below is a summary of the data findings - the complete publication can be accessed at:

"The New Mexico ATR project, which serves six counties, targets low income adults (18 years and older) in need of substance use treatment or recovery support services (RSS) who are exiting the criminal justice system and re-entering the society. Priority populations are women, including those with children; and gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (GLBTQ) individuals. The project emphasizes accessibility and culturally appropriate services for Native Americans, African Americans, and Hispanics.
The project again exceeded their client target this quarter, serving a total of 7,556 clients, more than 600 above the target of 6,928. New Mexico ATR consumers showed a significant increase (93.0%) in the rate of abstinence from substance use from intake to six months post intake.
Based on the data ending March 31, 2010, 46.8% of the providers who have received and redeemed vouchers were faith-based organizations, and 53.2% were secular provider organizations. NM ATR continues to network with providers, community programs and organizations, and referral sources throughout the state. They conduct presentations at community meetings and do outreach to drug courts and other stakeholders in an effort to connect with potential referral sources. "
